My favorite hobby is travel. It doesn’t have to be to any place special. I love to take roads that I have never been on and I prefer not to know where they go. Sometimes they are well traveled and go somewhere, and at other times they become a dead end.
One day I was on such a journey and as I was driving I started thinking how my life compared to my travels. I realized that life is a journey. Even though I do not know the final destination, some of the directions (goals) I take are easy and I find that I have friends and family and strangers who are very supportive and help me along the way. The way is like the well traveled road, traffic is moving and the end is easy to obtained.
I also find that I get complacent and content and stop before I reach the end (goal). I find that when my friends and family are less supportive , it is hard to keep the end in mind. Its just like the narrow dirt road, when I think I should turn around or just stop.
On one of my journey’s, I traveled a mud road, that turned into a path. I parked the car and hiked the path for a couple of miles. It ended at a creek with a beautiful water falls. I would have missed this beautiful place, if I had not been determined to go to the end. This is the way of life’s journey. The greatest satisfaction and enjoyment comes from those things we work the hardest. We must never become content or stop trying because we never know what is around the bend in the road.
